Hellraiser Series 3 Box Set : Dr. Channard. From Lucky Chinatown, Toyshub. $55.
Stayed on past midnight with my Dr Channard tagging along to catch the 1.30am sneak preview of Resident Evil:Apocalypse together with Wenjie, Iris, Sakuya and Jo's friend Shiro. I think it's a pretty good movie, a few scenes are reminiscent of those from Dawn of the Dead, like when the chaos starting to break loose in a quiet neighborhood on a sunny day. Also quite a number of scenes are directly associated with those found in the games. Resident Evil fans will like this (The missile scene... whoo!). The zombies move somewhat faster than the stereotypical slow lumbering kind of yester-years, but not as lightning fast as in Dawn of the Dead or 28 Days Later. The earlier part manages to hold the feel of a horror movie, but the second half is transformed into action-packed mode. There's a deviation in storyline that is different from the game at the end (sounds like somebody's mitochondria has taken on their own life), but I think we are getting used to the idea that movies always have their own versions to tell. And oh, the Jill Valentine character is more tenacious than the one in the games.
