For Saturday June 25 2005 and the time that follows - A cause for celebration and an inspiration to pen...
Nothing lasts forever for there is an end to every existence, and neither fate, destiny nor god is the dictator, only time. Chance and circumstances have paved for our paths to cross. The other person you passed the other day whose face you can't remember or the next fellow you stand beside when you take your transport to work tomorrow could have easily been someone you were due to meet under infinite alternate circumstances.
But it is within this reality that we were, not meant nor fated, but chanced to meet. Thereafter, chance and all other externalities have stopped playing their music as we with our voices began to sing our own songs and clap to our own tunes. From here, the only influence beyond our control - the only power that can dictate the end of our music - is time. It takes two hands to clap and so long one does not stop, the end cannot cannot come into view.
To my dearest May, I give you not words of promise for they are like shackles that bind, but the freedom of my love and deeds continuous, that may this new freedom remain as long as humanly can...
With all love to burn and will to preserve,
Ken
The power of will and the will to power...
The heart may desire, but does the mind will? Or will it allow itself to submit to the dictates of such deceptive illusions as fate, coincidence or god? Does one possess as much will to power as passion to burn? Can one muster enough intellectual strength to look beyond the illusion of casting one's sight in pursuit of answers from external forces and, instead, look inward to find that such solutions have always existed within the self?
Life is beautiful if you so will it to be.
Life is depressing if you do not will yourself to see.
Will is that which separates a slave from a master.
As such, how willing are you?
Just spreading the word around...
Visit Rock On Singapore!
Anyone remembers Anthony Kan, HeartRock and those nice gigs he organized around Hougang area? Here he is with Rock On Singapore on 17th and 18th June at Orchard Green. LGF will be playing on 18th.
Many have helped spread the word around for this event and even distributed flyers to the public as well as assisted with the coordinating work. So for those guilty stricken ones like me who didn't lift one finger to help, please don't spread this around, don't tell other people and don't go supporting the event. Remember, don't come down to Orchard Green on 17th and 18th June to catch bands like Chou Pi Jiang, Rudra and more. Don't click on the above banner to find out more about the event. And please... don't let me catch you taking what I've just said seriously.
Ahaha... as truly 'responsible' hosts for the event, we (me n Long) came up with the emcee script at the very last minute 4 Jun 130am-330+am before going to slp.
Heh heh... I think this D'J Party 2005 is the best gig so far compared to past events on the overall - the preferences and culture of the younger fans today have changed much. I would treasure the 'qi fen' of the older generation of cosplayers if you get what I mean, but that of the crowd today is really happening - according to Zhiwei, there were not enough leaflets to give out after 240 or so have been distributed - so I suppose we're looking at a pretty huge audience number never really seen before?
I would say I had been pretty tense during the emceeing and the heat contributed significantly to my disorientation and, needless to say, endless rivers of perspiration throughout the entire event - so that's the down side. Otherwise, I think as hosts we were quite alright... hopefully... harhar...
Anyway, Elysium set list...
1 - Asian Kung-Fu Generation - Haruka Kanata (Naruto Theme Song)
2 - Nightmare - Sekishoku
3 - Panic Channel - Rouge ~ love lorn a rouge ~
4 - MUCC - Despair/Zetsubou
5 - MUCC - Isho
6 - Dir en grey - Garden
I gotta love the happening crowd... especially for the last question here ahahah...
- "Who like Naruto?" *crowd screams and shouts*
- "Who like MUCC?" *crowd screams and shouts*
- "Who like Nightmare?" *crowd screams and shouts*
- "Who like Dir en grey?" *crowd screams and shouts*
- "Who like Elysium?" *crowd silence* "Wahahahaha! Thick skin sorry!"
The Naruto guy was super! Fancy a Naruto cosplayer leaping onto the stage unexpectedly while you're perfoming a Naruto theme song and u get him to stay on throughout the song - how more wholesome can it get?!
For MUCC - Isho: That was to me the most important and best 'sounding' song in our setlist... so there was no way I was gonna screw up on the lyrics. Pls forgive if I had to kneel down to read off the printed lyrics on the floor toward the end of the song. Anyway, the printed stuff was pretty much obscured by the big speaker at the front so ah... mmmm... our showmanship can make it la rite? Wahaahahahah =X
For DEG - Garden: Love it when the small clusters of you were waving your hands along!
In other news, IMHO, Joj - Best Vocalist of the day! Unfortunately I don't have a prize to give, sorry .__. I can say one thing, the emceeing had been keeping my mind real busy and the heat was adding to my disorientation that, admittedly, I wasn't able to pay enough attention to the rest of the performances. But u Joj, I could hear u from inside the toilet inside the NYC building! And u kept at that level and intensity of screaming throughout the whole time... for a few significant moments, that broke my chain of disorientation! So now u know why I say u're the Best Vocalist haha!
In any case, since I kinda missed out quite a great deal of the fun, I sure like to view any video u guys have. A hot, sweaty and tiring day, but everything has paid off! Whoo!
